The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas has come and gone and for those of you who weren’t able to make it out to the showroom floor, here is your rundown. From 4K to steady camera movement, technology and tools seemed to have everyone buzzing.

With a highly publicized release, MōVI made a huge splash at the show. MōVI is a handheld gimbal based stabilizer that uses advanced electronics to smooth out your camera movements. Vincent LaForet recently shot a short with the MōVI and has really helped to put this professional camera stabilizer on the map.
Kessler’s Pocket Traveler Jib speaks to the need for lightweight travel that most shooters are on the hunt for. With a pan base included and an extending weight bar, this jib really has answered the need for compact portability.
The Convergent Design Odyssey7 and 7Q have merged a monitor and recorder in one 7″ OLED monitor. With the ability to supprt DSLR to 4K cine cameras, the Odyssey features dual SSD recording in RAW, uncompressed and even has harnessed the unique capabilty of renting codecs per project usage.
Blackmagic has managed to be the talk of NAB, once again this year with their announcement of the Blackmagic Design Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (PREORDER HERE NOW) and the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K. Coming in at about 1K for a cinema camera with a High resolution 1080HD Super 16 sensor size and 13 stops of dynamic range, the Pocket Cinema Camera proved to be on everyone’s wish list. The BMPCC is compatible with Micro Four Thirds lenses with an ACTIVE mount.
